UNCON | ARCHIVE: Giving a little back
In 2019 our founder and principal designer Philip Stephens sadly passed away. In the months following his death, the label sought to find a way to celebrate his life and work at UNCONDITIONAL.
In late 2021 we launched UNCON | ARCHIVE as a celebration of everything previously created. We were to release show pieces, one-off pieces, runway pieces, customer returns and samples that had slight imperfections with the aim of creating something that could honour the work of our founder but also do something positive for the world around us.
We wanted our Archive to aid a more circular economy by allowing pieces that would otherwise be forgotten to rejoin the supply chain and enjoy a new lease of life.
After the initial success of our archive we looked for other ways to be as sustainable as possible and to give a little back to our loyal customers (and to a fair few new ones), so in summer 2024 we decided to drop the price of our Archive to a price point that was accessible to everyone, with some of our key archival pieces being lower than the cost price of the original garment.
We believe everyone should be part of the movement to slow down fast fashion and by owning garments made with higher fabrication and better construction you get the chance to buy better and buy less to aid in halting climate change.
UNCONDITIONAL has always been a symbol for love and peace and this is our way of saying thank you to our customers.
Our new campaign unconditionally U is a celebration of everything that has come before us with the notion that its up to U to define how you style our clothes.
Individuality has always been one of the most important principles at the label and we believe allowing more people to access our style can help create a deeper movement in creativity and individual style for years to come.
